Am I the only one who sees a different story - that he is somewhat stupid - unable to see what works and what doesn't. Not for the good of the earth, anyway.
His lithium cars are producing just as much pollution as oild does - just in a different way, and they won't solve the problem either. Building personal cars for everybody uses up what remaining metal we have, and wastes our planetary resources. What we need is immense state-of-the-art public transport.
I don't see Musk saying anything about real solutions. Also, it's simply not feasible to build a colony on Mars. It's a waste of resources at a time when we desperately need to fix up earth. This man appears not to have the intelligence to work all this out. Either that, or he doesn't care, and really just does want the applause.
Musk got lucky. He was born into (at least) an upper middle class family in South Africa - at a time when South Africa still had apartheid, and so he grew up very privileged. He also had access to computer technology because his father was able to buy it for him. If you look at the schools he attended, they are either private or situation in very, very expensive areas.
I have no doubt that Musk has above average intelligence, but that doesn't mean he has the type of intelligence that sees the end result of what he is promoting.
As someone who is seriously concerned about where our planet is going, Musk is not someone I admire.
