Again, I have to disagree.
Atheism simply means 'without god' and 'agnostic' means without knowledge.
Studies have shown over and over again that atheists have far more knowledge about religion than religious people do.
For instance, I was at a church school (DSG in Grahamstown) for 5 years. We attended chapel and church twice a day, 7 days a week - once in the morning and once in the evening.
I also spent 10 years as a fundamentalist Christian, spent time converting to Judaism, spent another 10 years studying comparative religion, etc. I am not alone in that level of study. Atheists do not become atheists because they have never studied God. They become atheists precisely because they have.
I don't think one needs religion in order to live a life to be proud of. I grew up in a secular home. My late father was an agnostic. He lived a good life. Also, my time in the church introduced me to so many unethical, evil people that I was gobsmacked. Atheist, per capita, have the least number of people guilty of crime and in prison. They are the most educated, the most generous, and have the longest lasting marriages. You can google the statistics, if you like.
