70% of Jews and their ancestors corrently living in Israel have been living in the Levant for the past two or three thousand years. They have been living under Muslim rule (Ottoman Empire, etc.) When the various wars started, Jews were forced out and tthey fled to Israel. That is why some countries in the Middle East no longer have Jews living there.

Only 30% of Jews in Israel are Askenazi Jews. In addition, 20% of Israeli citizens are Arabs, and they have equal rights and they fight in the Jewish military and sit in the Knesset.
